Caring For Your Collar

Understanding the importance and use of your pet’s collar is valuable information.

While 72 Bark Place prides itself in its unique and fun designs, it is equally significant for the pet owner to understand the importance of the care and use of a collar.

All of our collars are machine washable, this is good to know, as keeping your pet’s collar clean is valuable to his/her health. Cleaning the collar limits the germs, and flea infestation a pet may encounter. Washing the collar also allows the collar to appear new and updated. We recommend that a collar should be washed every two to three months, depending how many baths the pet encounters.

The collar can be washed by hand with the detergent of your choice or in the washing machine. If you have a front loader it can be placed directly into the machine, if not, you should use a lingerie bag to protect the collar/leash from the agitator in the machine.

Collars also have D rings on them so you may walk your dog with a leash which is required by law. The D ring also has another purpose, to allow you to place a spring ring on the D ring with a dog tag. The dog tag should have the pets name and a main phone number on the tag. We recommend that the phone number be your cell number, so if your pet goes missing and you are searching for your pet, you can still be notified by the person who found your pet.

A chip is also suggested, it is very inexpensive and the size of a piece of rice. Inserting the chip, gives you a greater percentage of being reunited with your loved one.
